Greig Cairns
Greig grew up in a Scottish-Canadian household in Southwestern Ontario, and was greatly influenced by his Glasgow-born parents' love of Scottish music, dance, and culture. First picking up a guitar at the age of 10, Greig quickly realized the joy of playing music was best shared with others, and has always been driven to play and perform with a variety of musicians.
Greig was lead singer, guitarist and songwriter of his first band, The Gurriers, which released two albums of original material in the celtic-rock genre. Although they met with some regional success in Ontario, Greig formed Pokerface, a mostly rock-oriented band with some folk/roots elements. Greig took the band to Vancouver in the mid-90's, where it quickly dissolved into the forests, mountains and ocean. While in Vancouver, some Irish traditional music aficionados took Greig under their wing and got him hooked on the reels and jigs, and Greig discovered the joy of backing traditional Irish musicians with guitar accompaniment. At the same time, he joined Celtic/roots-rock act Prydwen, recording two full-length albums and touring extensively throughout Canada and the UK.
Greig returned to Ontario in 2002, moving to Toronto and quickly becoming a staple of the Irish pub music scene there, as well as joining Toronto-based Irish trad band Spraoi. Greig now plays guitar, electric bass, bouzouki, mandolin and tenor banjo in addition to his vocal duties. |

Phill Hood
Phill is a singer/songwriter and performer from St. John's, Newfoundland. Since moving to Toronto in 2003, he has been blessed to have shared the stage with many of the city's most talented musicians! Phill spends most of his time playing Celtic and Rock music in many venues across the GTA, whether it be with his original band "Sunrise, oh Sunrise" - www.myspace.com/sunriseohsunrise, his cover band with bandmate Jon Mccann, "Ladyshake", or as a solo artist - www.myspace.com/phillhood, there is rarely a moment that Phill is not wielding his guitar and singling a soulful melody! Having grown up in rugged Newfoundland, Phill was exposed to celtic music and culture at a very early age, but did not truly embrace it until he left his homeland to study music in Toronto and started to miss the sounds that reminded him most of home. Having honed his craft in many a dark pub, Phill quickly found himself in a network of similar minded musicians and began working with fiddlers on a regular basis, trying to match the music of his roots with the flare and passion of a modern rock show. Being the newest member of the Terrors, Phill hopes to bring positive energy to the table as well as a passion for the music itself, and an upbeat stage presence that is sure to keep any audience stompin' their feet! |
